Its been raining cats and dogs (including, i suspect, a large portion of all other animals) here in karachi since yesterday. And i've loved every bit of it! Even went out for a stroll yesterday with my mother around where we live.

It was beautiful! My mother very appropriately commented "Its like being at a hill station". Now, my community is very green, much greener than a lot of other places in karachi, and the rain, washing away all the dirt everywhere, made the trees and the grass seem all the more fresh!

Plus, China Creek runs just behind where we live... so we have our own little sea side, and it was lovely there with the rain n all.


When we got home, my mom made Pakora's and we celebrated in the evening with them, chilli garlic sauce and Mirinda! The rain was amazing, the pakora's were delicious! and me? I was one happy bacha!

A stark reminder of keeping your eyes on the road and your speed low while driving! But thats not why i took this picture... i was surprised to see that we even HAVE a small size crane operating here in Pakistan!! Dont know about you, but im kind of impressed with all the new types of machinery we're getting here! What with all the new construction vehicles, cleaning vehicles and now cranes! Afterall.. im a man and big machines make me feel more like a man!! aarrh aarhh aarrrr" (Tim "the toolman" Taylor on the show "Home Improvement")

Oh yea! dont the clouds look good too? ;)

Now this is what i call dangerous work! Theres a new elevator being installed in our building, and the guy u see here is trying to fix a beam to its support... 5 floors up! with nothing between him and the ground below but just a board! No safety net, no ropes attached.. nothing! And he's so confident working up here! Thats just how work is done here in Pakistan i guess.. safety is a concept which interprets as extra expense than anything else.. afterall, the only thing cheaper than dirt here is human life!

A very different view of sunset i took while on my way home. The pillars are the new(?) flyover being built near mai kolachi bypass connecting two sections of M.T. Khan road.

The picture is from my camera phone, which i think managed to capture it quite well. The actual view was just a little bit better.

Today, we had a very cloudy evening here in Karachi, with a cool breeze blowing about.. absolutely LOVELY!

I took this picture just as the sun was about to set.. dont the clouds look just beautiful!

I fell in love with my city again today!

And it appears that i was not the only one... Saba over at crazedinsomniac posted a poem for it today (which im assuming she wrote). Give it a read here.. its called Magic..

It appears that everyone has been bitten by the outsourcing bug these days. This time, its Cantonment Board of Cliftons Garbage Disposal work, which has been outsourced to a company aptly titled "Waste Busters". I saw these revamped dumpsters today at defence and was totally impressed! Just hope they work as well as they look.

The website listed on the trucks www.wastebusters.com.pk is still not running, but lists an address of lahore with a UAN number.

Well, after outsourcing the cleaning services in Karachi to a private company, (especially the sea-view area) im totally in favour of these moves.

We need more initiatives like this here, and some enterprising people to take up the contracts. Anybody else hearing "Business Opportunities" here??

Now here is a sight, you'll see in Karachi quite often. Busses being overloaded!

Personally, if your doing it for fun, travelling like on a bus is a truly exhilirating experience! The danger, fun, wind in your hair! WOW. But if its an everyday thing.. then you should find some other way to move around.

One of the lastest fad's of keeping pets here in Karachi is to keep a flock of ducks. These creatures though dont provide the love and / or affection that cats or dogs provide, but they're fun to look at and sometimes do very funny things. If you ever see a duck trying to dry itself after taking a dip in water you'll know what im talking about. And overall.. they're CUTE!

But beware, sometimes, if you cross them the wrong way, they *do* bite back.

Oh by the way... i dont have a clue why they are even *on* the road, let alone why they wanna cross it.

I'll never understand why people having govt. vehicles never seem to take care of them... Last year, the Sindh Police Force was given a whole new lot of Brand New Toyota Corolla's as staff cars for senior officers. I saw one of the cars with its tail light broken and bumper all scratched. Is this what'll happen to them all? If history is any indicator, i can only imagine what sort of dilapidated condition they will get into. Till then however, Only time will tell...

P.S. This one tail light costs around 5 grand brand new!!

I saw this pink color beetle the other day and it looked just TOO cute not to share with others. I hope the car owner doesnt mind!

It seems like pink cars are really getting in this year, with pink colors appearing on Honda Civics, Toyota Vitz and most recently Suzuki Mehran's and Alto's !

Recently, we were going out to get our lunch from our office, and on this way, there's the thela wala (stall) selling 'SATTU'. For the uninitiated (which included me till four days ago) its a desi drink made of GOD KNOWS WHAT (i think it was joun.. from what roti is made of) which tastes like liquified roti. I was told that it works wonders for taking the heat out of you. At first i was a bit skeptic.. but then thought, why not... lets give it a try... and BOY was i glad i did! it tasted great.. and really took the heat out of me!

Im adding a pic i took of the glass ! If you ever get a chance.. try it out!
