The role of the media

UK has gone to battle with the media for making people "feel helpless" by broadcasting apocalyptic messages about the weather changes. One line in particular got my attention..
"The style of climate change discourse is that we maximise the problem and minimise the solution"
Isnt that what the media does always? How many articles have you come across where a solution was promoted? Solutions arent 'sensational' problems are! They spice up the copy and sell more papers! Even though, the media does have a very profound impact on the lives of the masses, its such irresponsibilities that make me wish for tighter controls! Where did all the unbiased opinions go?! Where did the 'truth will set you free' go?! Why put a spin on everything to make it sound more spiced up!?

On the flip side... it is also the fault of us readers, for *wanting* spice in our lives! Who would purchase a newspaper/magazine without some bold (and/or shocking) headline grabbing our attention. As readers, we tend to read more about disasters and gossip than actual truth.
