blogwordoftheweek: Believe
I've joined this new exercise in creativity run by Jammie where she send outs a word every wednesday, to a group called Wednesday Wanderers, and we write something about it.. its fun and makes you think a little as well. Also offeres different perceptions on what a word means to different people.... So here i go with my first blogword entry.... Believe
I keep telling my best friend, N, to believe in herself. She's the kind of person who for whom nothing is impossible and everything can be achieved by a flick of her wrist. Yet, for some reason, she can not.... does not.. want to believe she is capable of that. Sometimes it just gets so irritating... something i *know* she can do, yet shes always asking for advice on how to go about it, and following whatever someone else tells her.....
After 3 years of continously trying to get her to believe in herself, i changed my strategy a little... this time, i wanted her to have little visible successes in her own life by doing things the way she wants... and to know she acheived them cuz she believed in herself!
5 years ago... she was afraid of even *thinking* she could do anything on her own... today, she's taking major life-altering decisions on her own! Now thats the power of believing!
You rock N!!
