Shops Act gets enforced in Karachi!
Although supposed to be implemented on the 15th, this law has now been put into
effect by the Sindh Govt. Labour Department. I saw the effect of this law while coming home from the office (at around 9), where Ashiana Mall, Uzma Center and Gulf shopping center's were closed. However, many shops were also operating under half closed shutters with subdued lighting, including Mottas, a department store here in clifton which should've been exempt?
I wonder if this will do more bad than good. On the top of my head, i think social life in Karachi might go up a little, with nothing much for people to do in the evening/nights, they might actually visit each other a little more. Husbands will definately be happy about it. LoL! No more boring shopping trips with the wife haha! maybe it'll bring back some intimacy into their lives? Any other pros or cons you can come up with?
More on the story, not all shops have to be closed as a number of establishments have been exempted from the rule. According to this news item in the dailytimes,
