On Energy Drinks....

Of all the ad campaigning going on around here, the worst i think are those which try to get people hooked onto their products. From rexona deo (find mr right) to sunsilk (picture on the bottle) every company is trying to make you addicted.

Topping the list of addictable products, are energy drinks. These cans promise to make you full of life and energy (even though for a little while) and make you work wonders. Since no one was interested (except for maybe the high-class crowd) these two companies Red Bull and Blue Ox (what orginal names?! hai na psyched?) thought of giving out free samples to students so that they can understand what the hype is about. So they go around schools/colleges and universities here handing out thousands of free cans, just so people can buy more of them. Also, they've invested in customizing cars, The Chevorlet Joy, with their color schemes and huge cans on the back. Plus, they've got real cute girls riding around in them. (wonder if any of them is interested in dating a blogger? LoL).

We had the Blue Ox team come over to our university one day while we were having our final semester exams. Midway through the paper, these three girls burst into the exam room, carrying backpacks filled with cans and start distributing them to all the examinees. (Yours truly being one of them). I must admit, i was feeling a bit drained after studying hard and then attempting the paper, so was glad to have it. A couple of my friends dont drink them (allergic to caffiene n all) so i had their cans too. ;)

The thing about these energy drinks is... they give you a rush for a couple of hours.. and then you go through a major down afterwards while your body recovers, so in my opinion its not worth it, unless you have the time to recover.

While thinking of this post, i came across this post by suganspice relating her experiences with an energy drink. What a coincidence. Maybe we think alike.. damn! there goes my originality and uniqueness. Check it out.

P.S. I learned a very important lesson that day.... dont drink more than one can at a time and especially not FOUR back to back... even if it *is* free! LoL!
